SAM'S club offers CANES FOR VETERANS
November 10, 11 and 12th Sam's Club outlets in the Hampton Roads Virginia area will distribute free walking canes to military veterans who require mobility assistance. The canes will be distributed on a first-come first-served basis. Sam's Club membership is not required; however, the stores may ask for proof of military service. CNU - NEWPORT NEWS 11 AM VETERANS DAY
Christopher Newport University hosts a Veterans Day Rememberance Service at 11 AM, Nov 11th, at the Trible Plaza (area next to Trible Library). Includes a speech by CNU President,Paul Trible, a moment of silence, playing of "Taps", laying of wreath, and presentation of colors by the ROTC Colorguard.
| HISTORIC YORKTOWN NOON AT YORK HALL
The York County Historical Committee will host a memorial service at noon at York Hall. The commemoration will include tolling of the bell, presentation of colors, singing the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, laying of honors and taps. There will also be a special recognition of all armed forces veterans.

On WHRV 89.5FM, Veterans Day at noon Letters from Home & Families of the Fallen.
Programming focuses on the history of the holiday that was established in 1919 and also how prior to the internet, generations of soldiers and families waited on mail as the only means of communication. Author Jack London explores the history of letter writing and the importance of honoring veteran memories through letters in his new book, “French Letters: Engaged in War.” There's lots more during this special hour of Veterans Day programming.

DIRECTIONS: From the South or East, via Interstate 95 or East 64, exit at Downtown Expressway (I-195/SR 195) to the Belvidere Street exit. For Interstate 64 West follow signs to south I 95 and then exit at Downtown Expressway to the Belvidere Street exit. You will have to pay a toll to enter onto the Downtown Expressway. After exiting, turn left at the first light and you will be on Belvidere Street. Follow Belvidere Street and turn left, into the War Memorial parking area. You will be directed to specific parking and registration tables.

Colonial Williamsburg Salutes Military Service on Veterans Day Weekend
“Honoring Service to America” Pass Provides Free Admission
to Active Duty Military, Reservists, Retirees, Veterans and Their Families Nov. 11-14, 2010
Colonial Williamsburg honors the sacrifices and dedication of U.S. veterans, active duty military personnel, guard and reservists and their dependents during Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov. 11.
On Veterans Day a military parade honoring America’s veterans will be held at 4:30 p.m. and will begin at the Capitol. All veterans of service in America’s armed forces are invited to participate in the parade. Groups will begin forming at 4:15 p.m. A ceremony will follow the parade at the Courthouse on Market Square. Veterans unable to walk the distance can join the parade near the Magazine.
As part of this tribute, Colonial Williamsburg offers special free admission passes to active duty military, guard and reservists, retirees, veterans and their dependents from Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 11-14.
The “Honoring Service to America” pass provides admission to Colonial Williamsburg exhibition sites, the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg and most day programs. It also includes free parking at the Visitor Center, access to the digitally restored classic film, “Williamsburg, The Story of a Patriot,” and complimentary use of Colonial Williamsburg shuttle buses.
These weekend-long admission passes are available only at Colonial Williamsburg on-site ticket sales locations, including the Visitor Center, the Lumber House Ticket Office in the Historic Area or Merchants Square Ticket Office. Appropriate military identification is required.
The service member need not be present. Free “Honoring Service to America” passes will be provided to immediate family members of currently deployed troops, with appropriate identification. Military veterans who separated before retirement can bring a copy of their honorable discharge paperwork, DD Form 214, as identification of service.
In addition to providing complimentary admission tickets to these honored guests, Colonial Williamsburg offers special rates to military personnel and their families at any of its on-site hotels. Discounts are $30 off at the Williamsburg Inn, a $20 off at the Williamsburg Lodge and a $10 off at the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites.

EAT FREE OR CHEAP ON VETERANS DAY
Thinking about going out to dinner this Veteran’s Day? Once again several national restaurants will offer special free food for veterans- so bring your appetite, these menus are already making us hungry!
On Sunday, November 7, McCormick and Schmick’s seafood restaurants offer a free entrée from a special menu for veterans only (not active duty, sorry!). There is a cost for additional items beyond the entrée. Make your reservation today or find a participating location near you!
On Thursday, November 11, Outback Steakhouse will offer veterans and active duty military a free Bloomin’ Onion and non-alcoholic beverage. Proof of service for this offer include a U.S Uniform Services I.D. Card, U.S Uniform Services Retired I.D. Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), DD form 214 Veterans Organization Card (i.e., American Legion and VFW), Photograph in Uniform, Wearing Uniform. Find the restaurant nearest to you!
Also on November 11, Applebee’s restaurants will offer a free meal from a special veterans menu to all U.S. veterans and active duty personnel. You will need proof of your service with such items as a retired ID card (active duty ID for those restaurants feeding active duty personnel), a current Leave and Earnings Statement, photo in uniform, veterans organization card, DD-214, medal citation, or commendation.

| Free Busch Theme Park Admission for currently-serving military & 3 family members "Here's to the Heroes," a program sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, provides free admission in 2010 for any active duty, active reserve, National Guardsman or ready reserve servicemember representing any of the five service branches and as many as three of his or her direct dependents. All servicemembers need to do is register online at www.herosalute.com or in the entrance plaza of a participating park, and show a Department of Defense (DoD) photo identification.
