VIRGINIA CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION MET WITH VIRGINIA MILITARY OFFICERS INCLUDING 7 LEADERS FROM VIRGINIA PENINSULA Leaders of the Virginia Peninsula chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) discussed national legislative objectives with Virginia's congressional delegation over lunch on June 24th at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington DC. Over 120 attended the 26th Virginia MOAA Congressional Appreciation Luncheon, led by MOAA's Virginia Council of Chapters (VCOC) president, COL Sam Wilder, USA, Ret, of Richmond. Wilder thanked the Virginia Congressional delegation for attending and for their accomplishments this past year concerning military, veterans, retirees and families. He also noted "This luncheon is an opportunity to express to our Congressmen our deep concerns about the need to keep our national defense strong and to protect the healthcare for the men and women who serve and sacrifice for their country."
Seven leaders of the local Virginia Peninsula chapter (VIPMOAA) discussed issues with Congressmen from districts 1, 2, and 3. VIPMOAA's legislative chair, Stan Gorrell, LTC, USA, Ret, introduced Congressman Rob Wittman, R-Virginia, who received the Virginia Council of Chapters MOAA Outstanding National Legislator Award a plaque with stamps selected to represent his service and interests. An independent, nonprofit, politically nonpartisan organization, MOAA has about 370,000 members nationwide (active duty, retired, reserve and national guard officers) with nearly 49,000 Virginia members. The Virginia Council of Chapters (VCOC) is an affiliation of MOAA's 18 Virginia chapters.
